Texas Institute for Environmental Sustainability
HSU Green was founded November 1st, 2010. It is a university-sanctioned organization that is directed by a paid staff member who is assisted by student volunteer groups.
The Green Team's goal is to do all the is in our power to make the world a better place environmentally, ethically, and everything in between. We do this by starting with our local community and then allowing that community to permeate the world.
Plus, It's real cool to love the planet!
The main project undertaken on the the campus is the recycling program. This was started in 2011 with recyling bins in all fo the dorms and in the POD. From there the program seemed to exponentially expand overnight to departmental main rooms, offices, and classrooms. To date, HSU Green has gathered and sent 73.12 cubic yards of recyclable material to the Abilene Recycling Center.
This is the equivalent of a 73 story building with 10 X 10 X 10 feet of flooring
