Anson Middle School Doing a Steam/Pond Survey

Mr. Cable's 6th grade class has been hard at work learning about environmental science and how to survey bodies of water and riparian ecosystems. Dr. Rosscoe of HSU went to speak to the students earlier this year and inspired them to get their hands dirty and learn ways to help the environment.  They are studying an intermittent tributary to Red Mud Creek and the small pond associated with it that is located near the middle school.  Their goals consist of restoring the surrounding habitat with native plant species and surveying the hydrological, geological, and biological aspects of the area. They also plan to look at pollution and flood control problems.  We can't wait to hear all about their endeavors as Mr. Cable keeps us updated.

You can follow their progress on Mr. Cable's blog or come back to visit our site for updates.
